Born in 1969 in Istanbul, Mehmet Bozkurt completed his primary school education in the USA and then completed his secondary and high school education at Istanbul Private Moda Schools. In 1986, he started his medical education at Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA). In 1992 and 1993, he passed the ECFMG and USMLE exams. In 1992, he graduated as a Medical Lieutenant. He served for 3 years in Bolu 2nd Commando Brigade. In 1995, he started his speciality training in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Gülhane Military Medical Academy. During his specialty training, he worked as an observer at Orthopädie Klinikum König Ludwig-Haus Würzbug in Germany, and as a volunteer at the State University of NewYork Health Science Centre at Brooklyn and New Jersey The Glasgold Group hospitals in the USA.
He graduated from GATA in 2001-2003 as a plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery specialist. In the same year, he started to work in Diyarbakır military hospital. His duty here lasted 2 years. In 2004, he served in Kyrenia Military Hospital.
In 2005, he started to work at Dicle University Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Department and Burn Centre as Asst. Doc. During his tenure here, he has been interested in many reconstruction areas, especially burns.
2006 Resarch Fellow with James Zins and Maria Siemionow, 2011 James Zins, MD and Risal Djohan, MD. As a Clinic Fellow, he carried out studies in the field of reconstructive microsurgery as a post doct at Cleveland Clinic in the USA. He received the title of associate professor at Dicle University in 2010. In 2013, he received the title of hand surgery and oral and facial surgery sub-branch. He worked at Istanbul Kartal Training and Research Hospital between 2013-2017. In 2017, he received the title of Professor, and in the same year, he started to work as a training supervisor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Istanbul Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital. Dr Bozkurt, who is a referee in many international and national journals, has made oral presentations and session chairmanships in numerous scientific congresses and meetings. He has also published nearly 100 articles in international journals and nearly 50 articles in national journals. Dr Bozkurt, who has a PhD in biomaterials and bioengineering, has frequently appeared in the press in stem cell applications and burn reconstruction. Dr Bozkurt, who is married and has 2 children, has been working at Istanbul Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital since 2017. As of 2018, he is a member of the American Society of Plastic Sugeons (ASPS) and International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science (IFATS). In 2018, he became a founding member of the Faculty of Bioengineering at the University of Health Sciences and started his doctorate at the same time.
